Dress Shop Gallery is pleased to present a collection of oil paintings by Juan Eduardo Gomez.
"These images were painted using a technique known as wet on wet: Oil paint colors were applied and mixed on a white canvas. The figures developed without previous planning. Each one of them was a surprise to me."
Juan Eduardo Gómez is an American artist born in Colombia. Gomez left his country in 1989 to study art and found a new home in New York City, where he can practice his devotion to the art of painting. He received a BFA in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1998. Gomez received The Richard and Hilda Rosenthal Foundation Award for painting from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2007.Gomez exhibitions have been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times, The New York Sun, ArtNexus, and zingmagazine. Gomez paintings are in the permanent collections of the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), Museum of Fine Arts (Boston, MA), Colby Museum of Art (Waterville, ME), Hispanic Society of America (New York, NY), Bowdoin College Museum of Art (Brunswick, ME) and Dikeou Collection (Denver, CO).
